Dougherty Dozen’s founders Joshua Brian Dougherty and Alicia Lee Dougherty have shared their thought about their family, “We are Josh and Alicia Dougherty. We live outside Rochester, NY with our 10 kids, 2 dogs, and 9 chickens.
After 9 years of Infertility and Pregnancy Losses, we adopted Alex from Foster Care when he 5-years-old.
*Alex is now 16 and in 10th grade.
SIX DAYS LATER we found out we were pregnant with Zoey.
*Zoey is now *almost* 10-years-old and in 4th grade.
One year later our Case Worker asked if we would adopt James from Foster Care. He was 6 years old.
*James is now 15 and in 9th grade.
TWO WEEKS LATER we found out we were pregnant with Dash.
*Dash is now 8 and in 2nd grade.
When Dash was 1-year-old we were asked to take Foster Care Placement of Jordan & Jason for 5 days. Five Days turned into Forever and we ended up adopting the twins.
*They are now 7 years old and in 2nd grade.
We often call Dash, Jordan & Jason “The Triplets”
While fostering The Twins we gave birth to Bodhi, who is now 5-years-old and in Kindergarten.
As well as Harlee, who is now 3-years-old.
When Harlee was a baby we learned about Bree & Patrick, a sibling group in a Residential Treatment Facility. They were being split up for adoptions bc no one was able to handle their behaviors. We insisted they keep them together, and adopted them when they were 8 & 11.
*Bree is now 11-years-old and in 5th grade. Patrick is now 13-years-old and in 7th grade.
And that’s how we became The Dougherty Dozen!
