“What made you Kelly Stamps?” I am this way because of my father Vincent Stamps. Similar to myself, he never took anything too seriously. He just wanted to have fun, play his guitar and mind his business. He was my superhero as a kid. He taught me how to catch grasshoppers and we raised lil Petco-bought toads together. When I became a teenager I felt embarrassed by him. I didn’t want my “friends” seeing him when he dropped me off at school because he was always theatrical and weird. He went up to my crush introduced himself as SSgt Stamps and made him stand at attention ?? Those same friends I hid him from called me weird and ostracized me. Now those same people are desperately trying to get in touch with me for clout. My dad lost his nasty and abrupt battle with dementia today. I have so much pain in my gut. All I can say is that I’m thankful that he blessed me with this weird personality. I don’t know what I would do if I was some bland, dusty girl. While I watched him slowly die on zoom, I let him know that I love him and I’m so sorry for ever hiding him. Now that my job is purely making people laugh, I see the importance of not caring what other people think of you. I love you daddy and thank you”.
